Q. What does a "Not For Profit", "NON Profit" or 501 (C)3 mean for me the customer?

 A.  We are asked this question regularly.  Jay's, being a "Not For Profit" learning center, gives you and/or your children many advantages over other learning centers and/or preschools. They’re many differences in “Not For Profit” organizations when compared to other companies.

·   The terms "Not For Profit", "NON Profit" or 501 (C)3 all mean the same thing, 501(c)3 is the type of non profit organization Jay’s Learning Center is classified as with the IRS.

·   “Not For Profit” organizations are governed by a board of directors, there is NOT an owner, strictly founders, and board members.

·   All monies earned by or brought into the organization by any means, stay in the organization.

·   Profits CAN NOT be distributed to board members, stock holders, any staff, or non-staff members as a bonus. Monies from a NOT FOR PROFIT organization CAN NOT be used for anyones personal gain.

·   “Not For Profit” organizations are eligible to solicit grant monies from many different organizations, Jay’s use these monies, unless specified otherwise by the grant maker, to help keep our fees low, and support the programs within the learning centers.

·   All donations made by an individual or company whether physical items, or monetary, are 100% tax deductible when made to a 501(c)3 organization, such as Jay’s Learning Center, Inc. You can donate to Jay’s Learning Center through DONOR EDGE at:

Q. 
How do you become a “Not For Profit” organization and who determines if your eligible for this status?
 
A.    The organization must pay a $750.00 filling fee and apply to the IRS for approval.  For more information on how to start your own NOT FOR PROFIT organization, or more of the IRS qualification's please click here. 
 
 Q. Who makes sure that the “Not For Profit” organizations are following the rules and are not using any money for personal gain?
